Top 5 Regrets of the Dying & My Remedies
I sat down with a list of the top 5 regrets of dying humans and noted down what practices help me not have those regrets
I came across "The Top Five Regrets of the Dying" compiled by Bronnie Ware inspired by her time as a palliative carer. I then spent an evening introspecting over my attempted remedies at not having those regrets.
The top 5 regrets are–
- "I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me."
- "I wish I hadn’t worked so hard."
- "I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings."
- "I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends."
- "I wish that I had let myself be happier."
The process I used was to breathe in the regret and attempt to rephrase it as a desire for an ability and then see what practice serves to help me build that ability.
I really enjoyed the exercise and wanted to share the results with y'all!

The top practices for me are – Circling, Buddhism and Alexander Technique. (I've hyperlinked some introductory notes on each incase you are unfamiliar with them!)
If you end up doing a similar exercise for yourself, I’d love to hear the results!
