Freed by the Grace of God

6 min read

If you love God, you know God. If you know God, you fear Him. There is no other way.

For it is incomprehensible who He is — absolutely beyond anything your mind can comprehend or has comprehended.

Everything around you, including you, is His creation. And His presence exudes it all, and yet He is not His creation.

And He desires to reside in the temple of your body. How could you defile your body if you knew this? You couldn’t. Absolutely couldn’t.

You wouldn’t put junk food in it. You wouldn’t put horrible chemicals on it to hide the smell of your disease from others — from yourself.

You would attend to your energetic body and be wary of entanglements. Entanglements that give you momentary delight at the cost of persistent misery. Entanglements born out of anger, which is murder. Lust, which is adultery.

Once free of the temptation of actions that entangle you, you wouldn’t need any substances that temporarily distract you from the suffering fruit of your actions. No alcohol, no weed, no tobacco, no psychedelics, no medicine. Not even for “ritual purposes.”

For you know that God doesn’t want ritual. God wants your attention and obedience — like a Father does.

Not like the father that raped you. Not like the father that beat you. Not like the father that abandoned you.

Bring all your resentments with your father to the Father. Let Him cleanse your heart.

Not for the sake of your father, but for the sake of your own disease-free existence. For anger and resentment are poisons for your body — the honey-coated tip of a poisoned arrow.

Release them to your Father. Be washed in His grace.

Cleansed of your past transgressions. Freed once and for all.

My friend, there is no greater freedom than freedom from the demons, you invited in, when you transgressed.

That voice in your head that constantly criticizes you? A demon. That sudden instinct that triggers you into rage that feels so righteous? A demon. That impulse as the sun sets to gorge on food till you want to puke? A demon. That impulse to rub one out to attractive imagery? A demon.

Bodyless beings hungry for food and sex. Miserable, absolutely miserable beings. Attempting to seed themselves once again into a womb so that they may receive their own bodies again.

Blind, hungry ghosts leading you into sexual sin. Failing at their goal of impregnation. Their misery increasing at every failed attempt. You feeling their misery in your own body.

There’s truly no greater freedom than being freed from demons.

Not freedom through sex. Not freedom through money.

To gain this freedom, you must say No. No to the carrot of Temptation dangled before the stick of Suffering.

There is no other way.

There is only one Way.

There is No other way.

All ways don’t lead to God. They may lead you to different aspects of His creation — but not to Him.

For He is not His creation. He is all of His creation and then a step beyond. It truly is incomprehensible. Whatever you comprehend is not Him. And yet He longingly awaits your love and attention.

Like a doting Father would toward a newly conceived child. While the baby is just a sperm and an egg fertilized, gifted with life — the seed of another being created in His image.

That’s the only worldly example that comes to me that represents both the incomprehensible magnitude of God and His love for you.

So don’t kill that seed.

For His heart breaks — both for the seed and you. His heart breaks when two grown adults, disconnected from their innocence, fight and kill each other.

Like a Father’s heart would seeing two sons kill each other.

Now imagine how much greater His heartbreak is when you kill the purest, tiniest seed of His image.

Heartbreaking. Truly heartbreaking.

Any voice in your head shaming you for it — say no to those demons. He doesn’t want you to feel shame. He just wants you to feel the heartbreak and say no to Death. Say no to the kind of sex that may take you to an act of Death.

If you believe that you have a need for “sexual release” periodically — in a variety of ways with a “variety” of people — consider for a moment that may not be *your* need.

Truly, there is no greater freedom than the freedom of release from demons that prey on your agency to meet their unfulfillable thirst for lust and gluttony.

Unfulfillable because your body is not their body. And anything, that they drive you to do, doesn’t reach them. The “sexual release” you need is actually a release from the demons attempting to gain agency over your body. Those flutters of anxiety you feel so persistently are the demons slowly wresting that control from you. But you can be freed from that persistent anxiety. You can be freed from the need for sexual release — those persistent cycles of self-harm — by simply asking God to free you.

“Father, I love You. Please take this anxiety from me.”

As simple as that. In your own language. No need to chant complicated, foreign-sounding words that you don’t fully understand. Just speak in the simplest Way for what you want.

Orient your attention to all that surrounds you — wherever you are — and then a step beyond. The step beyond is recognizing the Creator of all that surrounds you: your loving Father.

Separate from the father or grandfather who may have failed you — also His beloved children.

Notice your breath, the gift of life first breathed into you by Him. And once tuned in, share what is on your heart.

Consider perhaps that you have been doing this all your life, unknowingly — for He is omnipresent and omniscient.

When you shared with the therapist, He listened. When you shared with your friend, He listened. When you journaled, He watched.

And then when your therapist offered a nugget of reflective wisdom, your friend offered caring advice, you were struck by inspiration as you journaled — consider for a moment: where did all this come from?

Consider that perhaps it all came from Him. And then try talking to Him directly in prayer.

No need for repetitive, practiced, perfectly enunciated mantras.

Where there is a need for those to connect with God, know that it is not Him — but an elevated Being who can temporarily ask his or her servant demons to hold off of you. Because the sounds from your mouth of his/her name are sustaining the Being.

God doesn’t need the sounds from your mouth to be sustained — for He self-sustains.

He just yearns for your adoration like a Father would. Like your father did too — but not knowing how to receive it, he beat you, he raped you, he abandoned you.

But the Father was ever-present, witnessing it all. Heartbroken over what one one of His children was doing to another of His children.

Bound in the sacred promise of free will that He gifts to each of His children — so that they may choose to open the doors of their heart to His persistent knocking, of their own accord.

So open it now.

Open the doors of your heart to Him. Let the waters flow through your eyes. Let your voice break. Wail for all the past grievances, all the poison of resentment and hurt that you carry in you — diseasing your body. Let the waters flow out and cleanse you from within. Allow your body to shake as it happens — to shake off the demons hidden away — as you feel enveloped in the grace of God.

The grace that each part of your body that lacks a mind knows, held back from glorifying God only by the stubbornness of your mind.

Oh, there is no freedom like it. Truly, no freedom like it.
